Logitech Releases Firmware Revision Unlocking 25,600 DPI on Select Mice

Logitech has released a firmware update that unlocks a bonkers 25,600 DPI resolution on select mice from its lineup. The company is leveraging its HERO in-house developed sensor to demonstrate its capabilities, achieving a "sub-micron level sensitivity" as a testament to its hardware prowess. Granted, Logitech knows users will be hard-pressed to actually gain anything from this DPI resolution compared to, say, the 16,000 DPI that is more common amongst high-end mouse solutions. More than anything, this serves as a sort of "achievement unlocked" for the company.

The 25,600 DPI do mean that the mouse doesn't need any external corrections on its way to 98% tracking accuracy though - no mouse smoothing or acceleration is required. Users who have chosen to partner with Logitech and acquired a G903 Hero, G502 Lightspeed, Pro Wireless, G703 Hero, G604, G502 Hero, G403 Hero, or a Pro mouse all can have this latest firmware installed, which will increase the selectable DPI settings in Logitech's G Hub. Just use the hub to download and install the new firmware revision and you should be all set to go.

"With that in mind we set out to design a collection of high-performance gaming gear in a fun and colorful way." From gaming accessories to product packaging, grey, white and black colors have historically dominated the gaming industry, but as gaming expands to meet the needs of more diverse consumers, personal expression through this community is shifting. Through social media, the advent of user generated content (UGC) and the rapid rise in streaming, content creators' gear and gaming rooms are increasingly on display, encouraging these gamers to put more thought into the colors they use and what it conveys about their individual style and personality. Investing in one's surrounding environment to reflect inner expressions lends to a more immersive gaming experience and Logitech G's new Color Collection will amplify that.

Samsung and Logitech Announce Strategic Partnership

In fact, global weekly downloads of business apps surged from 33.7 million in early October 2019 to 80 million in mid-April 2020. Logitech Says It's Doing Everything it Can to Thwart Webcam Shortages

Physical distancing has meant a resurgence in technologies meant to bridge gaps in geography (mainly webcams), as people have found that face to face conversations and team meetings are multiple steps above emails. However, ever since the pandemic (and associated lockdown and work from home) procedures began, it's been difficult to find any webcams available for purchase - at least at MSRP. Both new and used webcams have seen their prices increased in wake of tight supply and demand equations, and Logitech, as one of the premier webcam manufacturers in the world, has been on the forefront of fighting these shortages.

In its latest earnings call, Logitech President and CEO Brecken P. Darrel told investors that "PC webcams continued the strong momentum exiting last quarter with Q1 sales more than doubling to the highest quarterly level in a decade... We're ramping our capacity to meet demand, working to overcome component shortages as we do. We expect Q2 supply to improve, but still -- it still could remain pretty tight throughout the quarter." Demand equations in a time of pandemic aren't an exact science, so Logitech underestimating demand isn't all that unexpected. here's hoping the company can provide enough units for the resale channel so as to normalize pricing.

"The new Logitech G923 wheel with TRUEFORCE gives drivers an authentic experience behind the wheel and simulates the details we feel as racing drivers. I can feel if the rear of the car loses grip or if I'm about to spin, which gives me the best chance to quickly correct it, and stay ahead of the competition."
