Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H Motherboard Gets Listed

American retailer Newegg.com has started listing Gigabyte's GA-890GPA-UD3H motherboard, one of the first motherboards based on the AMD 890GX + SB850 chipset. This socket AM3 motherboard boasts of native SATA 6 Gb/s support, USB 3.0, Radeon HD 4250 integrated graphics, at a price of $139.99. The GA-890GPA-UD3H supports socket AM3 AMD Athlon II and Phenom II series processors, including support for the upcoming Phenom II X6 six-core processors. It also supports dual-channel DDR3 memory at speeds of over 1866 MHz by overclocking. Expansion slots include two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x8/x8 when both are populated), three PCI-E x1, and two PCI, bringing CrossfireX support. The SB850 gives out six SATA 6 Gb/s ports with RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5, 10, and JBOD modes. An NEC-made USB 3.0 controller also provides two USB 3.0 ports. The IGP connects to displays over D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI. Presumably, this could be the starting point for more AMD 890GX based motherboards to reach stores world over.

I wonder why Gigabyte continues to leave power/reset/OC buttons off their boards. If "cheaper" brands like ECS or MSI (I know they're both good) put them on there, why can't they?

Gigabyte hate everyone :laugh:

Only company I've come across that charge you for an RMA ( they denied that its actually paying for the RMA, only paying for the paperwork)

How many do you use/ would like to see?

2 for the keyboard and mouse.
1 for the printer/scanner
1 for the webcam/mic
that comes up to four for me, I think 6 is a fair amount. What i would like to see is more USB3 coming into effect.

This is actually the lower end Gigabyte 8 series board. The higher end ones do carry that feature.

HD 4250, I don't like 890 boards. At least offer DX11 support, never mind no games can run on it.

how can you not like a board you haven't used? DX11 is of what use for HTPC or office use?

for my phone to recharge it :D
to my monitor
and one more Mini USB for external HDD and Digital Camera

and I also planning a webcam :)

fair enough. so 8 would be suitable then, bearing in mind that most (not all) cases have two USBs on the front panel.

Why only X8/X8 when both populated? Arent the 58xx and 57xx getting benefits of X16/X16 configurations?

I would have thought that the new motherboard designs would have went that way. Arguably, I am not the most knowledeable about those things.

This is just the first new chipset from AMD, the 890FX will most likely be the one with support for more "high-end" features. The models with built in graphics have always been limited to dual x8 from AMD and it's not as if Intel is any better...

Looks like a good budget board, I would pick one up to replace my GB mATX board if the price were a little lower.

Why is USB 2.0 printed on the board though (edit: only 2 of them are 3.0 the rest are 2.0)?

Yes, only two, same as the GA-X58A-UD7. I think that the NEC chips are limitted to two.

This is not their high end board. Features like that are ususally for their more expensive models.

If there is a DX11 card capable onboard, then this will grant DX11 to the "general public". They do not need to get a DX11 card seperate (indeed, not many can afford one), speeding up the uptake of DX11 by giving it a wider customer base.

Hopefully they will list the 890X version soon since I really do not need the onboard GPU for anything. And what's up with the lack of an official product page on their own website so that we can look at the manual and other goodies?

Yeah I seen it, just seems strange it's down now, I can't imagine it was up for too long and wonder when it will be back up. Searching 890fx on newegg doesn't even bring up that mobo.
