I've just ordered the Pulse 7800 XT, it'll arrive tomorrow. It's the first (and probably last) piece of PC hardware that I ever bought on, or soon after launch day.

Agreed, especially because Auswolf uses a 1080p monitor. Why get a 7800xt? The 6750 surely worked fine, right?

Because he wants to support AMD even though that card was available from end of 2020... to donate a bit.
Fortunately, not many will follow

Could you please try to review the PURE?

Also, maybe don't judge anyone on spendings for a hobby??? Perhaps his “old” card gets passed along to another family member/friend or he just wanted some extra power compared to the 6750XT. We don't know the reason, and where are NOT here to judge spendings on tech with his own money. If we go down this route, we will find stupid purchases everywhere. ;)

Because it's new tech, and I'm curious. :p

Also because it catches the 6900 XT in certain games, has 16 GB VRAM, and is slightly better at RT than RDNA 2 cards. Besides, there's Starfield, too, which makes it not that bad of a deal.

I admittedly buy way more PC hardware than I need. Surely not recommended to follow suit. ;)

Edit: Also, I'm tempted to try a 3440x1440 ultrawide later, but I need more horsepower to keep the same performance level at that resolution that I have now.

But why?
The only "new" tech is the AV1 encode which you probably don't even need...

Chiplet design, uncoupled front-end clock, AI cores (with unknown functionality so far), Anti-Lag+... I'm just curious how it works. I like to tinker. :)

It's like you work in an AMD laboratory to test with the company experiment designs.
Neither of the points you listed have any relation about the end user gaming experience.
Chiplet design is because of the greed of the company, to save a few pennies here and there.
Uncoupled front-end clock - what does it even mean?
AI cores - no comment :D
Anti-lag+ - really?

No, you better consider either the RX 6800 XT or the RX 7900 XT.

Man, I as much as I like the Nitro+ HSFs, it is not really needed on a 7700 XT or 7800 XT. Basically three PCI-E slots taken up for a mid-range card. It looks good, yes, but it makes it look more "powerful" than what it can really do.

Pure's HSF looks good too, but they really should compete with PowerColor and use white PCBs to complete the look.

Pulse cooler is fine. It's the same cooler they've been using on the x700-series cards.

You're absolutely right on one thing: My points aren't in relation to the end user gaming experience. If they were, I'd probably still be gaming on a 1660 Ti with a 7th gen Core i7.

Look, most people are only interested in what hardware is used for (the user experience), and that's fine. I'm also interested in the hardware itself. I'm curious about tech. I don't need the extra performance, but I want to see how it works. Why is that an issue for you?
