Radeon HD 6000 Series Launch Delayed to November

AMD has reportedly delayed the launch of its much talked about Radeon HD 6000 series graphics processors from its expected date of October 12, to November, 2010. Whatever be the company's motive behind this delay, it creates room for NVIDIA to release new lower-mainstream and entry-level products. Perhaps AMD wants to make sure media-attention isn't split between HD 6000 series launch, and those of NVIDIA's GeForce 400 series spread throughout October.

These include the GeForce GT 430. Apart from new GPUs, NVIDIA is also said to be lowering the prices of some of its key SKUs, including the GeForce GTX 460 768 MB, and previous-generation GeForce GT 220. Meanwhile, it is increasingly looking like the first Radeon HD 6000 series SKUs will be based on the "Barts" die, these SKUs will succeed the Radeon HD 5700 series, and restore competitiveness against key NVIDIA SKUs.

Interesting, but this isn't news to me. As far as I am concerned, there was never going to be any retail "launch" in October, anyway.

Ive heard that bart gpu will not be 67xx series, but instead 68xx. Sweclockers.com in sweden say they have 3 different sources that say so. They also say that the 6800cards are not meant to be big performers, but more cool and better powersavers? If this is true, which im not so sure of, then im happy with my hd58xx cards. I hope they are wrong?!

buggalugsYep, was going to say the same thing. Anyway both times are partially true. They will launch mid October with a few cards and have wide availability in November.
OK, but the only person to say so, really, was ME. And i don't know jack, yet said this many many months ago. I also said 68-70 in March or so.

I think a certain company is not able to get enough cards, so will have to delay thier launch. That's all I get from this bit of "news".

I find it odd that on the same day several tech sites have reported barts would be delayed and several others have reported it would be released on time but then again several sites are calling barts the 6770 and 6750 and several others are calling barts the 6870 and 6850 so i'm just going to assume everything is just rumors untill amd says something official.

 I doubt it,, they would have to be delayed 12months from now to be considered delayed like Nividia was, i cant see that happening some how.

This is no big deal (if true) they have time to burn realy.

Maybe this is a misunderstanding? Maybe the 67xx's will be out in Oct. and the 68xx's in Nov.?

That's been the thought all along. October 12th.. or the 14th is when all will be known.. As far as I've read.

As long as it's going to be launched until the end of this year (which I believe it was the first confirmed info released), I couldn't care less when it is. Heck, it could even be on my birthday and they could give me one for free. That would be sweet. :p

If it is in fact delayed it's not really a huge deal if they're only pushing it up a month.

But i do hope it gets launched next month so we can get a good look at the series.

Edit: And lets see some nice price drops on the Nvidia side of things.(and on the 5 series) :)

Even if there is a delay it will still be an exciting few months for anyone looking to upgrade to a new gpu or get a second as i would expect some price cuts on almost everything in those months, atlhough im sure for some things the cuts wont be by that much but a cheaper card is a cheaper card :D

Yeah - Because nVidia's constant leaking releases of lower and weaker and worse cards is a REAL threat.. a LOT of pro gamers are really scooping up those crippled, low performance cards...

I know I cant wait to throw away My 5850, for one of those SWEET new 420's...

Sarcasm much...

I hope they don't delay the 6850's in early 2011 to spring 2011!

I'm sure the new 6xxx series focuses more on tessellation and scaling, the 5xxx series are meh in some tessellation benchmarks. That's where nVidia has the upper hand atm.

Can't wait to see some benchmarks!

not surprise, maybe they don't even have it....maybe they have it but turn out to be a mere rebrand, or the spec wasn't meet the consumer level. who know? if this turn out to be a mainstream card that would mean amd is completely give up the lead and satisfy what they have. also like someone said console ported will kill the high end market eventually as gaming platform are no different between extreme and average anymore and graphics are dated which even intel GMA can run it.....

f*** you all damn civilian!!
