Computex 2025 News Coverage

Computex is the world's leading technology trade show, especially for computer hardware enthusiasts like us. It is held annually in Taipei, Taiwan, and brings together the whole tech industry to unveil the latest innovations in hardware, computing, and AI.

Just like every year, we're reporting from Computex, live with our on-site team, backed by editors at home, to keep you informed with the fastest and most detailed updates.

On this page you can find all of our news coverage for the event.

The show has ended now, it was a huge success and we're wrapping up our remaining news coverage.

Phison Showcases its first PCI Express Gen 6 SSD Hardware at Computex 2025

Phison at the 2025 Computex showcased its next-generation PHY controller designed for PCI-Express Gen 6, the next interconnect standard, that enables 64 Gbps per-lane per-direction bandwidth. The prototype PHY test chip by Phison is labeled PT1601, and was installed on a PCIe Gen 6 test bed, and is the first step in designing next-generation signal integrity products used in SSDs, motherboards, server backplanes, and specialized cabling for automotive and data centers.

We were also shown the PCI-Express 6.0 x4 digital signal. Phison not only creates the SSD controller, but also the PCIe re-drivers and retimers needed to clean and boost the digital signal, and maintain data integrity at high speeds. On topic, the company also showcased its PCIe Gen 5 re-driver and retimer solutions at Computex 2025. As a market leader, Phison offers comprehensive design and validation solutions for SSD manufacturers that include controllers, and these re-driver/retimer components, besides firmware co-development, testing, and product optimization.

Phison Approaches the 15 GB/s Mark with its Latest E28 Gen 5 SSD Controller at Computex

Phison at Computex 2025 showed off its latest E28 series client M.2 NVMe Gen 5 controller. The reference E28-based drive from Phison, built using a 6 nanometer process, was shown nearly hitting the 15 GB/s sequential reads mark. A live benchmark session with CDM put out 14942.85 MB/s sequential reads, with 14149.47 MB/s sequential writes. Both the sequential reads and writes are the highest in the industry for this form-factor. Next up, the company showcased its new E31T DRAMless controller and reference design drives in the M.2-2242 and M.2-2230 form-factors. Phison says that the first drives implementing the latest E28 controller should hit the market in the coming weeks.
