Connect3D X800 GTO, looking at the core it doesn't say R480, it just says X800.

Is this moddable?

Your results are interesting and I supose that you have R423 with laer-cut from the right. Left has to be still connected. One quad should be disabled but it is not like on the other cards. If you want it is better to remove the cooler and to inspect what is under.
If I am right you should connect the right cut and to conduct again the fuse research. Probably you can have 16 pipes but who knows?

You also can preliminary flash with 16 pipe BIOS and to see whether 16 pipes will work but I am not very convinced that it will happend unless you don't hardmod it .

I am selling my compy to the company in the next couple months, will be upgrading to a AMD64 and X1800XT 2GB RAM system. Just bought this card for some extra HW support in the next two months.

Anyway, any ideas on unlockability? I have flashed a 9800PRO (after many tried BIOS's and re-writing one of my own), changed the cooler, and OC'd the piss out of my 9600XT.

OK, tomorrow I will pull the card, remove the cooler and check the core for number, and laser cuts. But it appears that these later X800GTO's AGP CAN be modded.

At least that is what I am reading, from the hex. 1 quad is disabled and the core is seen as a R430 by BIOS configuration.

A better cooler is needed for higher clock speeds. Sapphire uses higher quality memory so you are good there. I have taken my memory speed up to 600Mhz and it performs fine.

The Sapphire X800GTO's can be clocked extremely high. I have mine running 400 @ 607 on the core and 490 @ 621 on the memory, and it's stable. I would highly recomend getting something other than the stock cooler if you plan running it that high, because mine got close to 90 degrees with speeds that were much much lower than thoose, and even thoo it can run on 90 degrees it's certainly not healthy. I have a Zalman 700 copper on mine, and it's about 65 degrees after a few hours of gaming, with 100% on the fanspeed.

I have gotten errors at 460 core but it is running very warm. I don't want to change the cooler as this is a temp fix untill I get a new system. And I will be selling the card to a friend and putting the 9600XT back in when I sell this system.

I also have RAMsinks to apply yet and will be changing the TIM to AC5 and redirecting the air flow. RIght now my front 120mm pushes a mixture of warm air from the card and cool incoming air back into the card. I am going to add a chute to move it out a empty slot in the back.

I will have to move my disassembly back to Sat, as the lady of the house demands my time tonight. I expect that there will be some indecent and lewd activity, so the compy loses.

No laser cuts anywhere.

And according to the BIOS I have a quad locked in there.

Stable. Any more on the core and I get a lockup. 4951 scored on 3Dmark05.

Here is a 16 pipeline modded bios, but that's all I can do for you. I don't know of any way to mod the bios to help with overclocking.

If you flashed that bios right, then your gpu isn't unlockable with just a bios flash. Are you talking about find differences in bioses to figure out how to unlock it or just how to improve overclocking by using another bios?

There is nothing else you can do without doing some modding of the actual hardware. A last digit of zero in CONFIG_ROM_FUSES means that no pipeline quads are locked in the bios. Since you have a zero there, it means that you did get the 16 pipeline bios flashed correctly.

I have just buyed a X800 GTO and with Ati Tool i see that i have 12 pipe and lasercut, i try to flash bios with X800gto2 modified and flash run Ok, i have 0x260 but always 12 pipe, in this case the 4 pipe are lasercut, i can i hardmod and re-attach the pipe ?, may someone help me ? please send in forum photos with indicated the lasercut to re-attach and i try !!!

i have SVGA 256Mb <PCI-E> DDR Sapphire Ultimate Edition <ATI RADEON X800 GTO> (OEM) 256bit +DVI+TV Out GDDR3
It has 12 active pipelines and samsung 2.0 memory and R480 chip
standart 390 GPU/490 memory
i tryed to overclock it and i have on stable 580 GPU and 545 Memory. Memory - on max. after 545 - artifacts going on display. But GPU works with 600 and more, but it works short time and then display going dark, then black, and then my PC is hang up. Temperature was about 40-50 C. Is it because i have 12 active pipelines instead 16?

So, can i make 16 active pipelines?
