Intel Core i9-9900F Makes an Appearance in SiSoft Sandra: No iGPU, No Unlocked Multiplier

Intel has been playing with the release of multiple of their 14 nm ++ processors without any integrated graphics tech, such as the Intel Core i5-9400F, or the iGPU-less, unlocked Core i9-9900KF. However, as strange as it may seem, a quick look online still shows the i9-9900KF selling for more ($582.50) than its complete i9-9900 sibling.

The Core i9-9900F, as caught in SiSoft's Sandra, is likely simply a locked-down version of Intel's Core i9-9900, since delidding of Intel's Core i5-9400F has shown that the silicon real-estate for the iGPU is still there - as such, this likely isn't an effort from Intel to reduce the silicon used for graphics and pass on the savings to customers. At the most, this is Intel launching products that may carry defective iGPUs from the production process and still be able to sell them - though Intel does seem to be looking not to budge on its profit margin, even on these "crippled" CPUs.

AMD's Zen Server Platform Naples' Results Appear on SiSoft Sandra Database

If AMD's plans come to fruition, the company's efforts with its Zen micro-architecture will bring it back towards competitiveness with Intel not only on consumer chips, but also on the enterprise segment. While the company's consumer efforts are, by and large, the most visible from a consumer standpoint, with great hopes being pinned on it as a means to inject some much-needed dynamism and innovation in the CPU landscape, the most important vector for AMD arguably stands with the enterprise segment - where margins are usually much greater than in the consumer market.

Integrated Graphics Chip Market to Disappear by 2012 According to Jon Peddie Research

Jon Peddie Research (JPR), the industry's research and consulting firm for graphics and multimedia, today announced a new study that indicates the end of the market for the popular integrated graphics chipset, known as the IGP.

After fifteen years of stellar growth the IGP will cease to exist, replaced by embedded graphics in the processor. Integrated graphics are used in desktop and net top PCs, notebooks, and netbooks, and various embedded systems such as point of sale, set-top boxes, and signage systems.

SiS to support Intel Core 2 Quad FSB 1333MHz

The people at Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) managed to get another long-term contract with Intel that allows them to manufacture and sell chipsets for Intel's upcoming FSB 1333MHz quad-core CPUs. It remains to be seen how this license agreement will strengthen SiS in terms of market share in the high-end desktop segment which is right now, let's say quite inexistent. Sure they are selling notebook chipsets like crazy and since the CeBIT we know about their SiS672FX based mainboards. This time however we are talking about quad-cores, pretty advanced stuff - definitely the heavy weight league if you ask me. And while we are waiting for SiS to flex it's muscles I'll keep my fingers crossed for them that market acceptance will change in their favour as well.
