AMD Ryzen 7000X3D Series Confirmed in Leaked Company Roadmap

An alleged AMD client product roadmap slide leaked to the web confirms the Ryzen 7000X3D series. This also builds on a confirmation by Robert Hallock that 3DV Cache technology remains a continued part of the company's client processor roadmap. The 3DV Cache tech played in instrumental role in shoring up gaming performance of AMD's previous-generation "Zen 3" microarchitecture to levels matching or exceeding those of the Intel "Alder Lake," with a performance uplift in the range of 10 to 25 percent. The expectations for 3DV Cache to work a similar miracle with "Zen 4" are set rather high.

While "Zen 4" has achieved gaming performance parity with "Alder Lake," Intel's next-generation "Raptor Lake" is right around the corner, with the company claiming 10-15% single-threaded performance uplifts that should restore the its gaming performance leadership over AMD. The alleged AMD roadmap does not specify when exactly the Ryzen 7000X3D comes out, but is part of the block that spans Q3-2022, deep into 2023. Rumors are abuzz that the company could unveil the 7000X3D in the first half of 2023.

DeathtoGnomesEverytime you start to plan out your next new build something comes along and throws a wrench it.
It's been a weird couple of years, don't you think?
dj-electricI want HEDT.
Give me HEDT.

lexluthermiesterRight there with you!
But AMD has just released a HEDT platform for you. It's called AM5 and you have a choice - Ryzen 9 7900X or Ryzen 9 7950X with either super enthusiast 360mm AIO cooler or delidding and direct die cooling, X670E mobos up to 2500$, super expensive DDR5-6000 and upwards...
What else would you wanna? :D

No, that is mainstream. HEDT would have quad channel RAM and CPU's with 50% more direct PCIe lanes. AM5 is a consumer platform socket. It is very well done. It is NOT HEDT level.

I get what you mean, I just don't agree.

It's the worst platform I have ever seen. I will not buy an AM5 system ever.

Do you intend pun when saying "cool"? What do you mean by cool?
It has the worst characteristics - super hot chips which are close to impossible to cool down on a normal mainstream cooling system.

Kinda like Intel for generations now? But when AMD hit the same issue it’s “the worst“

Not literal of course, we know the high end Ryzen CPU's have joined Intel in being space heaters. I meant that AM5 as a platform is exciting and interesting.

You need to re-read the reviews. And Intel's 11th, 12th and 13th gen is no different.

You want more performance, you want smaller chips that boost to higher ghz you have to deal with more power and heat. You want less, turn down the power limit. I don't know how many times I've heard this already but the chips are designed to run at their thermal limit, and you can set it to whatever you want to if you are not happy with your temps or noise.
If you want to make the argument AMD pushed these chips too far outside their efficiency range, there's data to support that. But impossible to cool down on a normal mainstream cooling system is too much hyperbole.

Gaming performance is disappointing:

Intel is a superior choice even with the older generation. Wait to see the new generation launch in 20 days.

Not by a whole lot. A GPU is more important than a CPU in games. Wait for the X3D cache versions.

The gaming performance is not the only drawback. Look, for example, at the long boot times, the numerous system bugs and overall AM5 immaturity.
It will be many months, if not years, before this platform gets polished.

Seriously, I don't wanna be AMD's alpha tester in order to help them to fix their incompetence. They are not my friends. So they can forget about me, and even moreso about my money.

Yeah, this is not a debate I want to have. Believe what you want and don't buy if you don't like it. It's that simple..

Unfortunately it seems in many technological areas are forcing users to be alpha testers is becoming more common. Upper management doesn't want's delay's to market and they are more willing to risk reputation of the company in the face of edging out profits without considering the overall risk to the brand or longer term profits by reputation. I'm thinking by now anyway AMD has a better workflow after slogging through AM4 to work out the issues so hopefully it won't take as long to iron out the problems in AM5 this time around and hopefully better relationships with the motherboard manufacturers at this point.

There are a lot less bugs present compared to Alder Lake, which was a terrible launch comparatively in terms of refinement. In fact, most reviewers praised AMD for the lack of bugs, and long boot times are only on the first boot.

Regarding gaming performance, it depends on the subset of games. Other reviews show a 7700X comfortably beating a 12900K.

Also you don't need a 360 AIO for a 7950x. Anandtech's testing was with a noctua D15 and their results were as impressive as the rest of them. The CPU doesn't actually lose much performance with less cooling, as it only gives away the performance towards the extreme end which are gains beyond the optimal power/frequency curve anyway. Which is why setting a lower TDP doesn't actually hurt performance as much as it should. So yeah these aren't impossible to cool, a tower cooler works just fine and more cooling will give you more performance.

I see from many posts of yours that you have a strong intel bias, which is okay but try to be objective at least.

Not exactly. Super long the first time (over a minute on my board/memory combo), about 30 seconds after that - each time.

For me it's not really a big deal - I always turn off any fast boot stuff in the BIOS and disable anything to do with the Windows fast boot 'feature' anyway.

The release of the X3D was a test how it performs on the massive real world insanity of combined hardware and it showed to work ( with small issues)
So for now we can assume that it only becomes better in the near future, AMD is not scared to try new things and is in my view the most innovative company on the planet in this branch.
They test and try all kinda new things and with all of them do look at the power usage still as much as possible
I do not want a power gulping CPU when it only gives a few procent improvement as Intel has been doing all these years
They need to start thinking about new ways to improve both ways more performance with much lesser power usage.
As long as Intel does not show that they are for me not an option the same goes for Nvidia they just build more power sucking super heaters which do not actually make me want them
Sure my PSU's yes i got 10 range from 1000 up to 1600 watts ( gold rated) so they can handle it but i want it to use lesser power not more unless it is not really possible
Even though Intel released a buttload newer models i refused to buy them as non of them does a better job than my old 9900KF
Non of my games would benefit one second of the new models while i expect a massive improvement when the 7xxx AMD series comes out
Hell i almost bought the 5000 series X3D.
But after the leak i am sure that the newer serie will give me a huge boost in performance on almost all my games.
I hope to see better games coming out in the near future which are not boring old stuff we see for "ages" in a row ;)
AMD has the best cards and is improving constant and dares to experiment with new ways to solve old problems
I sure sound as a AMD fan now but i do not care which one leads the pack, but in the last decades AMD has been proving me they are the ones who go forward and do not sit still at the same old crap.

Smart move when you have troubles with that darn rotten os from M$ you never am sure it works like you want it
That is also the reason i hate that super bad product called 11 it is a garbage product with nothing really new besides a incredible fail interface and going back to have to a new NON graphical interface.
The so called improvements in 11 are totally worth nothing as it is just going back in time, using the only command line stuff i always had to use on their server products
Nothing in 11 made me feel it was worth it, most of it only made me angry and are totally unlogical
Anyway i think something might be not right i discovered that some software was eating away my system resources and it turned out to be some of the old tools i normally liked to use.
So use autorun manager to see if you got some of these startup items which are really not needed
I have killed any and all AMD software stuff and only allow the graphics driver as some of these really am just slwoing my bootup
But this was just and example of the long list of crappy software which only spies on your system without any usefull function
There are tons of programs running in the back of your system sending all kinda nonsense and private info to so many companies you really should block or kill.
I have killed them all and my system was instant running as i was used to it, being super fast again the only wait is now till the mobo does finally gives the OS boot
But i do know that fast boot makes it a insane hard task to get back into the bios if needed so NOPE NO fast boot :D
The reason for that is that this old 9900Kf boots so darn fast that you hardly get it to accept your keystrokes to boot into bios
LOL i hope all the makers of motherboards will add a support tool to force the mobo into the bios or make a tool that you can change your bios settings in a tool in the OS
As the systems are in a upwards trend to become faster and faster every decade
Especially by the incredible power from the modern graphics cards becoming insane powerfull
I get the feeling that game designers can not keep up with all the graphics power we see in the last decade
They need alot of time to make and plan the games so they always stay behind

Really so your blaming the hardware for the fail of a OS ?!?!?
And your asuming AM4 immaturity while it is stable as a rock
You really have no clue how many people are testing, you forget one important thing there is no way they can test the insane amount of all hardware on the planet working together
Even Intel which is still the largest from the 2 companies left can not solve that EVER
There is a complete insane amount of hardware which never can be tested ever in a lifetime to be compatible as it has proven on the most use OS called WINDHOOS yes i call it a bag of hot air
As they still fail in that perspect as well.
No matter how many standards are being released you never know if your piece of hardware really is made to the promised standards look at USB the biggest fail of them all
They release a standard which actually is a pain in the behind since usb3 was released companies selling usb1 devices as a usb3 device as they never made sure in the rules what a usb3 device should be
Usb4 will be the same mess nothing standard for real and no control of what hardware vendors are selling you for real
This far it only made the nasty companies sell a lot of profit over their inferiour devices sales
Most of them hide or made it impossible to put your complaints at their fake products not being what they sell it for.
Especially those who turned out to be chinese products which you never ever can force to refund or send the product you actually ordered.
BTW hardware vendors tend to leak info about new products alot, so i do not blame those hardware vendors but it has been proven they almost always been the cause of the leaks
AMD and Intel do not want that anymore so even though vendors promise they never want to leak , time has proven they often have people who can not resist to leak for their own silly feeling good.
So i agree on these makers to be very very carefull with giving vendors info as they always have leaked almost every new product
Even now some things are still being leaked, it should be stopped permanent as they leak info which changes alot all the time.
Companies as AMD and Intel do not need fake info to be released untill the product gets their final test when it is released in the wild west called the international market
We all expect it to work instant, but again always forget alot of stuff is not made as intended by greed of companies who do not care much about quality but just want profit

Yeah I will pass on Zen 4 and probably hop into Zen 5. I bet they will tone things down a bit power wise and go back to a Zen 3 type package power.. maybe.. purely speculation on my part.

Either way, it’s an awesome time for computers right now, minus the shit show pricing.

Same I mean I just bought an X570S/5600X3D out of necessity(read ”I dun f’kd up) and as a long term last go at AM4. I’m pretty happy and certain it will keep me going until Zen 5, never had any intention on Zen 4 anyway.

Same, sticking with AM4 at least until then. I am not in. CPU bound situation anyway at the res i game at and I just bought the “king” of gaming CPUs right now so I only us my PC for gaming anyway so I’m in a good place too easily wait out Zen 5
