Capcom Announces Resident Evil Village PC Requirements

Capcom, the Japanese video game maker, has today announced specification requirements for its upcoming Resident Evil Village PC game, needed to play the game at certain resolutions/graphics presets. Starting with the minimum settings, Capcom is thinking of 1080p 60 FPS gaming. To achieve that you need at least an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor paired with 8 GB of RAM. The minimum specification also requires a DirectX 12 capable GPU, with 4 GB of VRAM, just like NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 560. The company notes that using this configuration, framerate may drop below 60 FPS during heavy loads. If you want to use raytracing, which is now also present in the game engine, you must switch to at least NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT.

The recommended specification of course requires much beefier hardware compared to the minimum specification. If you want to have a steady 1080p 60 FPS experience without frame drops, Capcom recommends an Intel Core i7 8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, paired with 16 GB of RAM, and a GPU like an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700. However, if you want the raytracing feature you need a better GPU. To achieve a 4K resolution with 60 FPS and raytracing turned on, the GPU needs a bump to at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card. You can check out the game requirements in greater detail below.

LOL, the RTX 2070 is capable of 4K/45fps and equal to 6700XT/ 6800, meanwhile 3070 compete with 6900XT

Well you certainly have the opportunity to find out which one would run it better

True. But still.

I presume that the 6800xt is left out as the difference between 6800xt and 6900xt are not very much so they probably left it out. But then again, who knows till game comes out.

First world problems. I know.

The next issue I am struggling to get around is: Do I want to play this game?

I mean, Resident Evil has gone all "Brothers Grimm" and now we have werewolves, Vampires and magic when before hand, it was a virus from an evil corporation. I feel they jumped the shark.

The comparison is related to ray tracing performance

But I thought it was more aimed at RX series method of Ray Tracing? I mean, didn't Hitman 3 get RT support that the 6800/6900 GPU's did very well in?

Hitman 3 haven't got its RT patch yet...still waiting.

RX6000 always take bigger performance hit than RTX3000 when using DXR, the magnitude is depending on how much Ray Tracing effects are in use.

6700 XT and 6800 also capable of 45 fps in 4K according to Capcom, while we have this:

A sheer 24% difference in 4K on average.

Just use this:

DMC 5 uses RE engine, just like REVIII.

So I'm guessing you want a run of the mill repeat t-virus scenario? I don't understand ppl at times, we complain about stagnation and when changes are made, we cry about them too.

The game may end up being great and I hope it does.

Everyone has an opinion. To assume that I am the one complaining about stagnation, you are wrong. I like the whole t-virus story concept. Tell it through the eyes of others. Heck, I was hoping for a repeat of Resident Evil Outbreak.

I purchased RE2 Remake and loved it a lot. It was very good. And I had a lot less love for RE7. So that should kind of give you an idea.

I don't understand people at times. They think that everyone is a hive mind on such opinions.

You clearly want a repeat of the old run of the mill games. You're right you have the right to an opinion, just like i do mine. If you feel that was a personal attack then more power to you. I'm just pointing out that ppl(plural) clamor for changes and when they do get them, they want to revert back to the oldie but goodie. Nothing wrong with enjoying the classics but it's clear, a change was needed. Im not a big fan of RE games but i have a bunch of 'em. I like them for what they are(each one of them)... and i welcome whatever changes they want to make.

To me, the series is based around the same kind of concept to keep a story going. Each story is connected after all. So trying to explain how it went from Zombies and bio weapons that seem semi plausible (I suppose) to people like an 8ft lady that turns into bees/flies or whatever and then back into a person, brings me back to the whole slug thing from RE0 and that was terrible.

Anyway, I hope it is good. I will just wait my judgement till it comes out.

Your point about change and people not liking it, has really nothing to do with what I said nor should have been made in regards to my comment. Doesn't matter if you are not directing it at me. It is something one doesn't do when they write as a reply to others. It is viewed as making an assumption, and its an acronym for making an ass of you and me.

If you ask me the requirements are very tame. So hopefully that means the optimization in this game is good.

As @Chomiq pointed out, the engine is the same as for many titles so far. They all ran very good. So I expect this to be more or less the same. Just added effects like Ray Tracing for example.

The overpriced 6900XT is actually an RTX 3070 competitor in nextgen titles.
