Bungie Schedules "Marathon Gameplay Reveal Showcase" - Airing on April 12

The time has come—we're getting ready to share the first look at Marathon in this week's Gameplay Reveal Showcase! Join us on Saturday, April 12 @ 10AM PT from Bungie HQ, where we'll be revealing gameplay for the first time along with a few other surprises. Game director Joe Ziegler, franchise art director Joseph Cross, senior design lead Lars Bakken, gameplay director Andrew Witts, and senior social media manager Andy Salisbury will be sitting down to chat about everything we're sharing, and we'll be doing live Q+A from Twitch chat throughout the show.

Puzzles, decryption, and hacks
Over the last few days, the community has been sluething their way through encrypted puzzles and messages intercepted by the resistance group, MIDA. We'd like to recognize the collaborative hacking efforts of you all here today. Curious what's been happening behind closed signals? Here's the quick recap of what transpired across multiple days, social platforms, and websites.
If it fits, it sits 🐈

Decoding the signals from MIDAS: Cryptic messages, mangled audio transmissions, and code languages spread across the internet. Decoding a series of puzzles led to the Traxus OffWorld Industries chat logs, which contained the key to hacking into the CyAC Terminal.

Unlocking a secure gathering place: Hacking into the CyAC terminal uncovered a decryptor tool needed to solve hexadecimal language clues. These clues unlocked a complex audio soundscape puzzle, and the first person who solved it discovered the location of a safe place for MIDA to gather—also known as the Discord URL!

The first look at Tau Ceti: MIDA intel points back towards the Satellite Map, where a mysterious signal can now be detected. Solving puzzles to unlock exact coordinates, THOUSANDS of players worked together to hone in on the source signal. Their efforts combined uncovered the first transmission from Tau Ceti IV—the CCTV feed seen in the Save the Date trailer (congrats, master hackers).

Join the resistance
It's not too late—the Discord server is still a secure gathering place for the resistance, and MIDA is welcoming new members. Join the Discord to receive your unique Digital Access Card (DAC) from MIDA, a unique identifier just for you. You can use your DAC to access faction missions in Discord, allowing you to earn points and climb the leaderboards with each successful mission.

We've also got plans to host things like low-key dev livestream, Q+A forums, and more in the Discord after reveal. Definitely come join us if you'd like to connect with our team and other people excited about Marathon!

... and more to come
We've got more things cooking on the road to reveal (and afterwards too). 👀

We'll see you at the Marathon Gameplay Reveal Showcase!
Don't forget to follow us on Twitch so you'll be notified when we go live. From all of us on the Marathon team, we can't wait to share more with you this week. Let us know what you're most excited to see in the comments, and we'll see you Saturday.

Oh, right, they DID announce a new Marathon game a couple of years ago. Curious to see what it actually looks like. So far, everything they have shown has pretty much nothing to do with Marathon whatsoever, but we’ll see.

I thought it was just a remaster of the original?

If only. It’s a Tarkov-esque multiplayer extraction shooter. At least it was when they last talked about it, God knows what it is now.

I really didn't want to throw up in my mouth today, yet here we are...

Makes sense I guess, the original Marathon was three decades ago, and Bungie's latest games have demonstrated that the studio is now just another excreter of multiplayer shooter clones.

With the death of The Cycle (because of poor anti-cheat and flawed endgame), there's currently a gap for something like Marathon.

Sci-fi theme, but not dystopian. Bright colours, not grimy palette. FPS gun-play, but not military sim.

ARC Raiders is another extraction with a cool vibe and gameplay, also 2026.
