17 Comments on Stellar Blade Coming to PC Platform on June 11 - Shift Up CTO Discusses Graphical Features
Yeah I know that its already out on the PS 5 for like a year now but well don't own a PS 5 nor plan to so I've had to wait yet again.
I've been playing their free2play gacha game for 2 and half years now and if there is one thing I can say is that Shift Up is one of the few studios left who still have passion for their own games so this I should have a lot of fun with.:) 'We are also getting collab events and content between those 2 games which is like a cherry on top for me'
1. All of a sudden the game has imposed PSN like region blocks/restrictions where there were none before the pre-release on Steam. I've had people who had previously wishlisted the game just have it completely disappear in their lists now. The person who handles the official X/Twitter account of Stellar Blade claims that PSN is NOT required for the game so it could be a technical misstep on their end.
2. The imposition of Denuvo at the very last minute when there had been 0 indications that they would do so previously. This would also be the first Sony published game to have it, previous ones like Horizon Forbidden West, GOW:Ragnarok, Spiderman 2 etc did not have it. While i get that there are people who dgaf about this DRM, i pretty much do on principle and will wait until it is taken off before purchasing it. I have waited a year since the og PS5 release, whats another 6-12 months (the typical period of time before devs take it off).
And Chinese pay 52% less..of course...
Also why are so many countries region blocked for this game? Just found out over 100 countries can't access it on Steam. o_O
As for those 2 points well the first I really can't say anything about since I have zero experience with PSN accounts/system in general but yeah it could be a simple error on their side.
As for DRM yeah I'm actually one of those ppl who doesn't care about it like if I want to play a game then I will regardless if it has DRM or not like life is too short and unpredictable and I just want to have some fun with my hobbies while I can.
Stellar Blade is also their first bigger game so I think its kind of understandable that they would want to have some DRM at least for a while and then remove it later.
ID/Bethesda did the same with the previous DOOMs that had DRM first and then they removed it later.
Edit: Before someone tries to call me out on the “mongrels” thing - nothing political, it’s just the mildest that I can call those empty suits without swearing. Plus, I am replaying Morrowind again and trying on the Dagoth Ur look. Can’t believe I have to specify this nowadays, but here we are.
