Amendments in IEEE 802.11ad Bring Multi-Gigabit Data Throughput
IEEE, the world's largest professional organization advancing technology for humanity, today announced that the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) Standards Board has approved the IEEE 802.11ad-2012 amendment to provide data rates up to 7 Gbps, more than 10 times the maximum speed previously enabled within the IEEE 802.11TM standard. With the improvements introduced in IEEE 802.11ad, this amendment is a perfect complement to the existing IEEE 802.11 standard, acting as the foundation for tri-band networking, wireless docking, wired equivalent data transfer rates and uncompressed streaming video.
The IEEE 802.11ad specification adds a "fast session transfer" feature, which enables wireless devices to seamlessly transition between the 60 GHz frequency band and the legacy 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. RivieraWaves, the leading wireless connectivity silicon IP (Intellectual Property) provider, announced IEEE Wi-Fi 11n certification of its new scalable Wi-Fi 802.11ac silicon IP. IEEE, the world's largest professional organization advancing technology for humanity, today announced the approval of IEEE 802.3-2012 “Standard for Ethernet.” IEEE 802.3 defines wired connectivity for Ethernet local area, access and metropolitan area networks around the world.

IEEE Approves New IEEE 802.1aq Shortest Path Bridging Standard
IEEE, the world's largest professional association advancing technology for humanity, today announced that it has approved the IEEE 802.1aq-2012 Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks: Bridges and Virtual Bridged Local Area Networks. Also known as Shortest Path Bridging (SPB), the standard will help dramatically reduce the complexity of Ethernet networks while increasing their scale. Part of the IEEE 802 family of standards for local and metropolitan area networks, IEEE 802.1aq encompasses all functionalities of existing technologies, such as Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and Multiple MAC Registration Protocol (MMRP) into a single, easy-to-use link state protocol.

IEEE Announces Public Access to Select IEEE C95 Standards: Magnetic Field Exposure
IEEE, the world’s largest professional association advancing technology for humanity, today announced that the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) has made some of its IEEE C95 safety standards for human exposure to electromagnetic fields available to the public at no cost. The standards can be downloaded through the IEEE Get Program, which allows anyone from around the world to view and download current individual standards at no charge. As you can see from the pictures, it has a high 'cuteness' factor, due to its diminutive size of just 5.7" x 3.9" x 2". Sony Announces PlayStation Vita, Revolutionary Portable Entertainment Device
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) announced PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) (PCH-1000 series) as the official platform name for the next generation portable entertainment system at E3 2011. With an RRP of €249 for the Wireless model and €299 for the Wireless/3G version, PS Vita will launch in the global market starting at the end of 2011.

In Win Releases Ironclad Full ATX Case
In Win released its newest case, the Ironclad. The case makes extensive use of an industrial design with parts of its exterior making use of perforated metal, appealing more to the LAN-party animals and case-modders. It is a fairly large full-ATX tower measuring 550x225x566mm (21.7"x8.9"x22.3") HxWxD, which is made mostly of SECC steel. It has 5 external 5.25" bays and a drive cage with six 3.5" drive bays. Also included is a 2.5" bay for SSDs. The motherboard tray features cable-management holes, along with a big hole at the CPU socket area for managing CPU coolers with backplates. There are 8 expansion slots, with the 8th one making installing double-slot graphics cards on the last expansion slot easy. Each slot cover has a vent with dust-filters. Dust filters also make it to other areas such as the PSU air intake and the front grill.
